Extractions
Tooth extraction means gently removing a tooth from its socket in the jawbone. It may be needed when a tooth is badly decayed, infected, fractured, impacted, or extra (supernumerary). Sometimes, extractions are also done in cases of advanced gum disease or to make space for orthodontic correction.
Removing a troublesome tooth helps relieve pain and prevents the infection from spreading. In some cases, a few stitches may be placed to help the area heal faster.
Once healing is complete, the missing tooth can be replaced with a dental implant, bridge, or denture to restore comfort, appearance, and function.
